Selecting the right sites is the most important step in developing any photovoltaic project. KLM Development Romania has its own GIS team in Germany and Romania and uses professional tools such as QGIS and FME for automated site analysis.
We identify areas of exclusion, analyze network coverage and spatial planning, and systematically assess the potential—from a technical, legal, and economic perspective.

Use of official maps (OCPI, ANCPI, eTerra, Urbanism, SEAP, ANRE, etc.)
Integration of linear maps, nature data, and flood protection data

Our experience shows that the following characteristics in particular contribute to a positive evaluation:
At least 5 hectares of adjacent land (more is preferable)
Flat, unpaved land (field, meadow, abandoned industrial site)
Location near the power grid with 20 kV / 110 kV / 400 kV substations
Good accessibility via public roads
Developable in accordance with planning regulations (zoning plan or possible rezoning within the built-up area)
